About 2arts

Watching the future float by from another side of time.
Why would it exist if not to share it? Love is sacred.

Hollywood is an unusual place and one can never know what's going to happen or what could be seen.

One evening on my way driving home, I was awestruck
by an enormous photograph of John and Yoko. Amazed by it's sheer size alone, I stopped and began to photograph the entire environment, as to put it into it's proper perspective.

The photograph was shot in the summer in 1998 at about 2:00 a.m during a full moon. It was a beautiful clear evening. I noticed later while walking in the Hollywood Hills, that the photo could be easily distinguished from miles away.

It was once said that the Beatles represent the twentieth
century's greatest romance. Reflecting on my past, I couldn't agree more since music has helped me experience the intricate wonders of life.

Technicals of Overlay:

In Hollywood tradition, I set the scene into a cartoon storybook environment to depict the feeling of romantic moments.

The graphic I used for the frame was cropped in Photoshop to the same pixel dimensions as the QTVR movie's window dimensions. The graphic was saved as a PSD file with an alpha channel which creates the transparent window. Then the PSD file was opened as a new file in MoviePlayer 3.0 (Pro) which changed it into a video track. A "select all" and a "copy" came next (to be pasted into the separate QTVR movie as an additional track.)

Then I opened the QTVR movie of the night scene - and went to "get info" and changed the controller to "Movie Controller" using the pull down menu in "get info." Then the "graphic frame" video track was pasted into the QTVR movie by doing an "add scaled" under the edit menu using "option-shift" (which allows "add scaled" to be a viewable option in the edit menu).

Once the "graphic frame" track was pasted into the QTVR movie it became Track2. I then went to the "get info" window in the QTVR movie and selected the new track to be active using the pull down menu in "get info." (It's important to note this is done while in "Movie Controller" mode - and not in "QTVR Controller" mode.)

Once I had selected "Track2" (the graphic frame) from the "get info" window, I chose the "Graphics Mode" from the right side pull down menu. Then I selected "straight alpha" to see the resulting transparent window with the QTVR movie behind it!!

Now it needed the controller to be put back to "QTVR Controller" mode from "Movie Controller" mode. Then the file was saved by exporting it as "Movie to Streaming QuickTime VR Movie" but it could have just been saved normally. I was left with a streaming QTVR movie with a graphic overlay.

I took the flattened FastStart QTVR movie and opened it in SoundSaVR!! The audio had already been created with an Alesis QS8 Synthesizer and Studio Vision Pro software. This is relatively new to me, and lots of fun. There are four separate (audio only) QuickTime movies (DeBussy's "Claire de Lune" phrase was played by my Mom) - all were compressed with IMA4:1. Once in SoundSaVR, the audio was directed how I wanted it, (including the options fast start and pre-load) and there you go!
