Biography

Mary A. Holmes, a Fellow and Founder of Cowell College at the University of California at Santa Cruz (UCSC), studied Philosophy at Hollins College, and continued her studies in painting and art history at the University of Berlin, the Academie Collorossi in Paris and the University of Iowa. During World War II, Ms. Holmes began teaching at the University of Iowa. After the war, teaching at the University of Ohio, she had a television show on art. While teaching at UCLA, she was honored for her "Introduction to Art" course, and she met historian Page Smith, a colleague with whom she later founded Cowell College. As Professor Emerita of the Art Department at UCSC, Ms. Holmes continued to lecture at the College, and her art has been shown at the Eloise Pickard Smith Gallery.

Joel Smith, President and Founder of Realitysmith, is a member of the International QuickTimeVR Association and has participated in the Wrinkle in Time, Wrinkle in Time II and other IQTVRA projects. He began developing QuickTimeVR content in 1997 as a natural progression of his long-time experience in photography and his experience in developing multimedia and interactive projects since 1985. He continues consulting and database and scripting development through his company, m3 Consulting & Services, which he started in 1990. He started Realitysmith in 1998 to focus solely on the business of immersive imaging. Projects include a virtual walk-through of Keswick Hall and object photography of Ericsson cellular phones. Realitysmith utilizes the full capabilities of QuickTimeVR to present the real world virtually on screen.
