About Shrines at the Nation of Ku`
Makapu`u, O`ahu, Hawai`i Nei The Shrines and Gods of the Nation of Ku` - Two Nodes 1998. Within these stone circles are both shrines and gods of great importance to the Hawaiian people, especially those who make up the Nation of Ku`. Some of the stones and arrangements of stones and native plants are from the neighbor islands, reassembled and given home, sanctuary and protection from encroaching civilization and neglect. The Nation of Ku` is one of many dozen Hawaiian groups struggling through the issues of Sovereignty and illegal annexation of these islands by the United States in 1898. The issue of Sovereignty is forefront within the hearts, minds and deeds of all Hawaiians. Negotiations with the United States of America for some form of Hawaiian Autonomy are ongoing. Recently President Clinton apologized to the peoples of Hawai`i for the illegal overthrow of the Hawaiian Monarchy and the Queen in 1898.
