"The Balcony" was a small web theater playing interactive QuickTimeVR panorama movies that Axis Images put online July 17, 1995.
It went live the same day as Apple Computer Inc. put on thier website "Salk Institute" QTVR movie, coincidentally also photographed by Janie.
This summer 2015 was the 20th anniversay of this small web theater.
It's important to note that The Balcony was made in a time when the web was young and websites were crafted to fit on 14 inch CRT monitors and so no browser window would be larger than 640 pixels by 480 pixels.

--- Behind The Scenes ---
When it debued many people wondered how the theater was made from. Was it 3-D ? Was it a real theater ?
It was crafted from construction paper, hot glue and mini xmas lights. It was about 24 inches wide, 20 inches deep and about 18 inches tall.
See this production photo here of the "Set" with the house lights on.
In 1997 June 22, the balcony was updated in a 3D style as seen below. 3D was a fashion on the web at that time.
